General Information:
- Teak: The hard yellowish-brown teak wood is used primarily for furniture and shipbuilding. Ethimo teak comes from controlled forest plantations in Thailand and Indonesia, resulting in an excellent and high-quality material ideal for outdoor furniture. It is particularly resistant to temperature, water, humidity, and saltwater changes.
- Pickled Teak: Teak with vintage charm. First, it is brushed to give the surface a rougher, older appearance and remove the natural oil coating. Then it is tinted. After being tinted, the teak is treated for the grey pickled finish to give it a silver-grey layer with an antique effect. For the chocolate version, after being treated, the surface is treated with a warmer, intense colour that still allows the original vein markings of the teak to shine through. This finish gives the wood long-lasting protection from oxidation.
- Painted Mahogany: As for painted wooden furniture, Ethimo chooses mahogany from regulated Indonesian plantations. Mahogany is a very durable hardwood, highly suitable for outdoor use. Also, they are commonly used in boat building. After drying and before painting, the wood is treated with a sealant that closes the pores making it waterproof, guaranteed by a particular procedure for fixing the colour.
- Rope, in polypropylene and acrylic: The ropes used in the ETHIMO collections are made especially for outdoor use and made in a synthetic material that is highly resistant to UV rays, abrasion and atmospheric events. These are different in their cross-section (flat and round) and composition (polypropylene for the Flat Rope, acrylic for the Round Rope) and are used to create convenient and comfortable woven chairs and chair-back.
